Coleen began her involvement with Habitat as a volunteer painter on a build site in 2002. She remembers meeting the family in the build site “kitchen” that day and was moved by their grace amongst so many strangers and felt honoured to play a small part in their amazing journey. She soon developed a condition widely known in Habitat circles as “habititus”, a highly infectious and passionate desire to assist low income families realize their dream of homeownership. She left her longstanding entrepreneurial nature behind to chase this new opportunity to give back to the community that had given her
so much and has never looked back. She has seen the organization grow from serving 8 families to its current 36, and sees so much more potential in our community.
Coleen is a Global Village Canada Build Team Leader and has participated in the 2004 Jimmy Carter Build in Veracruz, Mexico and has led a youth build team in 2009 to the Dominican Republic. She plans to venture to Ghana, Africa in 2013 with her youngest daughter.
She is currently the Manager of Major Gifts and Sponsorship and continues to use her passion for people and real estate to assist the organization realize its vision of a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live.
